St. Michael is excited to announce it has hired Miss Ashley Kovaleski as a full time teacher for the 2020-21 school year. She will teach French during Mrs. Jones’ maternity leave for the first quarter, and also serve as a substitute teacher, with additional administrative tasks during the year.
Kovaleski worked at Bishop Machebeuf High School in Denver for the last two years. Prior to that, for three years, she was an administrator for the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS), and was a FOCUS missionary herself for two years, serving at both the University of Kentucky and Georgia College and State University. She earned a B.A. in French and Public Administration from Auburn, and a Master’s in Public Administration, also from Auburn.
“I was impressed by everything about Miss Kovaleski,” principal Faustin Weber explains. “Her experience as a teacher, her training in French, her FOCUS missionary work, her administrative skills—all fit perfectly with our needs for this unusual year ahead, with additional administrative responsibilities due to the virus. She’ll be a kind of ‘utility infielder’ for us, helping us on many levels. I am grateful she has accepted our offer. “
Kovaleski, too, is ready to get back to the Gulf Coast where she grew up. “I am very excited to join St. Michael in a position that combines my interest in French and past work experiences in education and campus ministry at a school that I know values teaching our Catholic faith authentically. I am so excited to have moved back to this area and to be able to continue working with students!”
Miss Kovaleski will be a member of Christ the King parish.
Welcome!
