We are fully committed to a symphonic band program at St. Michael.
The band program is supported by the school's Renaissance emphasis. In short, we believe that students thrive when all features of their personalities, including the artistic, are encouraged to flourish. For this reason, all students are asked to take two years of the Arts as a basic graduation requirement. As freshmen, this means they may take either Band or Chorus. In their second year, they may either continue in band or chorus, or move to Art. Talented, committed musicians are encouraged to graduate with four years of music training.
Our band director is also developing the band program at the three elementary schools which support St. Michael Catholic High: St. Benedict in Elberta, St. Patrick in Robertsdale, and Christ the King in Daphne.
Early results have been extremely impressive. For two of our first three years, the band has earned a "superior" rating at the ABA competition. Here is a video of them performing for "Band of the Week" on WKRG.
