Congratulations to the boys' and girls' cross country teams, both of whom qualified for the state finals on November 8 in north Alabama, based on their performance in sectionals on November 1 in Loxley.
The boys team finished first out of 12 high schools from the southern quadrant of Alabama, whereas the girls finished 4th. As has been their formula all season, the boys did it with superior depth, with Jack Phelps finishing 4th overall, Michael Garriz finishing 5th, Dyson Crooker 12th, Tripp Miller 13th, Luke Berrios 14th, John Davis 16th, Edward Cowles 17th, Andres Christiansen 21st and Nick Berrios 22nd, and Hunter Stevens, 35th. St. Michael boys tallied 42 points overall, whereas second place Bayside Academy scored 50.

The girls were led by Alison Boyd (13th), Betty Hemby (20th) and Anna McBane (26th).
