Mr. Paul Knapstein, St. Michael Athletic Director, is pleased to announce that NeKalynn Gellington will be the head cheerleading coach at St. Michael.
“I’m impressed with her,” says Knapstein. “She has extraordinary experience at the highest levels in cheerleading, both as a cheerleader herself and as a UCA coach, and she has a lot of technical expertise to share with our girls. She's worked with our girls at local gyms and knows them well. Coupled with the athleticism of our team, I think she’ll do great things here.”
Gellington, for her part, is ready to go: “I am elated to join St. Michael in a position that allows me to share my passion for cheer,” she says, “ and to help these young athletes foster and grow their passion as well. I’m eager to get started!”
Originally from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Gellington has worked with many teams throughout the state of Alabama while serving as a UCA Staff instructor for the past five years. She was a competitive cheerleader during her middle school and high school career, making several appearances at UCA High School Nationals and USASF Worlds. While pursuing her B.S. in Health Administration, she was a South Alabama Cheerleading team member and competed at both NCA and UCA College Nationals.
Ms. Gellington is currently a graduate student in pursuit of her Master of Public Administration.
