St. Michael is happy to announce that senior Alexander Vick is the school’s first National Merit Semi-finalist. The school received notification ealier in the week.
Over 1.6 million students in nearly 22,000 high schools entered the 2019 National Merit Scholarship program by taking the Preliminary SAT (the “PSAT) in October of 2017. Of those, only 16,000 are named semi-finalists, representing less than 1% of each state’s seniors. Alexander is now eligible for competition to become a National Merit Finalist, chosen later in the spring.
“We’re very proud of Alexander for his academic achievements,” says Faustin Weber, principal. “We believe he’ll receive scholarship offers from some very fine universities.”
In addition to excelling in the classroom, Alexander starts on the offensive line for St. Michael’s football team and is a member of the “Academic Quiz Bowl” and the newly developing Debate team. He also registered a perfect score of “36” on the A.C.T. test. as a junior.
Congratulations, Alexander!
