The Cardinal Fund encompasses all annual giving, not counting capital or endowment gifts. The Fund has two important purposes: It helps the school hire and retain excellent teachers, coaches, and staff, and it allows the school to offer financial aid to deserving students. With it, the school can offer competitive salaries and substantive raises to its employees each year. Together with gifts from the Guardian Angel Fund (an outreach established by the Catholic pastors of Baldwin County) and the school’s operational budget, the Cardinal Fund has made it possible to meet the financial needs of every qualified student in the school’s six-year history. This is a fact we can all be proud of!
How does the Cardinal Fund relate to other charitable giving?
Like every family, schools have different accounts to pay for different needs. Without the Cardinal Fund to augment the “checking account” of the school, the school would be forced to raise tuitions substantially each year, or hire less stellar teachers, or give families less tuition assistance.
Capital campaign gifts help pay the school “mortgage,” to provide for the physical facilities necessary for learning, athletic competitions, and worship.
Endowment giving is like the family’s “retirement” account, established to secure the health and long term future of the school.
Fiscally responsible schools, like families, must adequately fund all of these “accounts” to meet their short term and long term priorities. Please be generous!
