Letter of Recommendation Requests

• Complete the Personal Bio and Activities & Achievements sections of your SCOIR profile or upload a resume to your SCOIR account.  
• Check that the school or scholarship foundation requires a letter of recommendation.
  • If the LOR is optional, please check with Mrs. Thomason about if you should submit one or not. 
  • Do Not ask your teacher to write a letter of recommendation if it is not necessary.  That is more work for you and our faculty. 
• Find out how the LOR needs to be submitted and exactly what information or format the organization requires.  
• Ask your teacher in person if they can write a strong letter of recommendation for you.
  • Ask your teacher at least three weeks in advance of when your application is due 
• Give your teacher the name of the school or schools to which you are applying and the application deadlines.
• After you have confirmed in person the teacher can write the LOR for you, then submit an electronic request through SCOIR.
• Write a Thank You Note to your teacher(s) that have written an LOR for you.
