Dick and Carole Schneider Scholarship

About the Scholarship:

Dick and Carole Schneider have been supporters of St. Michael since the very beginning, contributing to the original campaign to build the school, and helping the school ever since. Dick grew up in Detroit, attended Catholic schools, served in the military, and went on to have a successful career as an executive in the Chrysler Motor Corporation. Carole was born in Chicago, and after earning a degree in Math, taught Math in Germany and the Dominican Republic for five years, before returning to the states, marrying Dick, and teaching at a Catholic high school in Detroit.  Over the course of their marriage, both have been active in the pro-life movement, engaging in public protests, providing their home for unwed mothers, and founding a pro-life women’s clinic. Upon retirement, they settled in Fairhope, where they have continued to support pro-life causes. Among their many activities, Dick has been active in the American Legion, whereas Carole has been especially involved at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.  

Amount of Scholarship:

It is the Schneider's wish to support two half tuition scholarships for one year to St. Michael Catholic High School. If the recipients leave St. Michael for any reason that year, the unused portion will revert to the fund account.

Qualifications: 

The Dick and Carole Schneider Scholarship is designed to assist families who need help to continue with Catholic education.  Families must demonstrate need by applying for financial aid through the school’s regular processes.  One of these recipients must be an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church or Christ the King Catholic Church, whereas the other recipient may be "at large." Recipients must be students with a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and to following their faith.

Application Deadline:

Families must complete the financial aid application by March 31.  All who meet the above criteria will be automatically considered for the Schneider Scholarship.  No individual application is required.

Contributions to the Dick and Carole Schneider Scholarship Fund:

Donors wishing to contribute to the Scholarship Fund are encouraged to do so, thus increasing the number of future scholarships.  Please send your check made payable to “Dick and Carole Schneider Scholarship Fund” to St. Michael Catholic High School, 11732 St. Michael Way, Fairhope AL   36532.  You may also donate by debit or credit card, by gift of securities, by making a monthly pledge, or by including the Dick and Carole Schneider Scholarship  c/o St. Michael Catholic High School in your will or estate plan. If you need assistance, please call the school at 251-459-0210.  An acknowledgement of your gift will be sent to the Schneiders.  Thank you!
