St. Michael Catholic High School is pleased to announce it has hired Mr. Don Blanchard to be its Driver's Education instructor for the 2016-2017 school year.
"Long time Baldwin County folks know Mr. Blanchard quite well," remarks Faustin Weber, the school principal. "He's been a teacher, a coach, a principal, and has worked in the superintendent's office over the course of an long and honorable career here in Baldwin County. We're very happy--and I know our sophomores are happy--that he's teaching Driver's Ed with us. Students who complete the course will be able to get a reduction in their car insurance premiums, so I am guessing their parents will be happy also!"
"And I have even more good news," Weber continued. "For our first year as a school, at least, we will not charge an additional instructional fee, other than whatever materials will be needed for the classroom. Mr. Blanchard will teach the course in conjunction with the school's Physical Education program, pulling out sophomore students from P.E. two days/week during the first semester, and then offering the actual driving instruction behind the wheel during the second."
Blanchard is excited about this new opportunity: "I feel truly blessed to offer Driver's Ed to St. Michael's students, and want to thank Mr. Weber for making it work. I am proud to be a Cardinal!"
The instruction will begin after Labor Day. Sophomores wishing to take the class can sign up through their P.E. classes in late August. They will be able to purchase classroom materials directly from the Driver's Ed instructor once classes begin.
