For a quick introduction to planned giving, go here.
Contrary to popular perception, planned gifts are not just for the "uber-wealthy." Middle-income families can designate their cars, boat, a portion of their home, or other assets to the school. Often, when young families create a will, their priority is to provide maximum protection for their dependent children, but as their children grow older and become more financially independent, these same families have greater flexibility to include non-profits in their estate giving. There are usually real tax benefits to making a planned gift for your estate, and it doesn't affect a family's current standard of living.

We have a parent at St. Michael who is an expert in estate planning and law. If you'd like to have a confidential, no-commitment meeting with this person to help you craft a legacy gift to the school, please call Paul Knapstein, interim school principal, at 251-459-0210 or email him at paul.knapstein@stmichaelchs.org,. He will arrange a private meeting between the two of you.
