Thank you for requesting consideration of placement in St. Michael's Aegis Resource class. To assist you through the Aegis application process, all necessary steps and forms are listed below. In addition to the 2 requirements of a completed Aegis Application and a copy of your child's current psychoeducational evaluation, the Archdiocese's Reevaluation Packet is also included on this site for those who need to update their child's testing information.
1. Complete the Aegis Applicationand submit directly to Katie Beckmann.
Please note this Aegis application is in addition to the Archdiocese's re-evaluation packet. This form must be signed and submitted by all families interested in enrolling their child in the Aegis Program.
2. Provide a copy of your child's most current psycho-educational evaluation to St. Michael.
Current means your child must have been evaluated by a licensed psychometrist within the last 3 years and the psycho-educational evaluation does not expire on or before the first day of this next school year. The school will review the testing report, and if necessary, interview the student, parents, or current and past teachers to gather more information. In most cases, if a student has been in a program with special services and has a current psych-ed evaluation, he or she will qualify for Aegis.
3. If you are applying for special services for the first time or if your child's psycho-educational evaluation is about to expire, your child mustbe (re)evaluated by a licensed psychometrist, and a copy of the testing report must be provided to St. Michael.
You have a choice between using a private psychometrist or our services with the Archdiocese of Mobile. If you choose to have your child evaluated privately, please ensure that a full evaluation is completed; both achievement and intelligence testing must be included in the psycho-educational report provided to us (A "3-year Re-evaluation/Review" without updated testing from Baldwin County Schools does not meet our requirements).
If you choose to go through the Archdiocese, contact the person at your present school that provides resources services to your child or reach out to your school principal. They will guide you in the completion of forms required by the Archdiocese for the scheduling of an evaluation. Getting your child on the list for an evaluation through the Archdiocese is your primary goal. We recognize that testing may not occur immediately.
4. If you are coming to us from a public school, please also provide a copy of your child's most current IEP and any other documentation you feel would be helpful.
5. All forms required by the Archdiocese for requesting (re)testing are attached here for reference.
Please note that all forms to request (re)testing are to be submitted to the Archdiocese through your child's current school. This is necessary because in addition to the forms completed by you, the Archdiocese will also need information from your child's current teachers, principal and cumulative folder. Unless your child is already at St. Michael, we do not have access to this information. Of the reference forms attached, parents would complete the following:
Test Request Form
Parent Permission Form
3-page General Information Form
1 Copeland Checklist
6. Once St. Michael CHS receives all necessary documentation, your child's information will be reviewed and a determination will be made as to whether accommodations and/or the Aegis class are an option for your child. No decisions will be made on a child's placement until all required forms have been submitted.
