St. Michael has hired Miss Jackie Stapleton to lead its Aegis program, following the late departure of Mrs. Loegler, the former teacher. She begins at the school on September 9, 2019.
“We're thankful she's accepted a position with us," says school principal, Faustin Weber. “Miss Stapleton comes to us with many years of teaching experience. She’ll be both loving and challenging, like every good teacher, even while assisting our students to be successful in their other classes. "
Stapleton is looking forward to her return to the classroom: " I am very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of St. Michael," she says. "I believe that advocating for my teenage son Jack, whom I adopted 1999 and who now attends the Exceptional Foundation at St. Paul's in Daphne, has uniquely prepared me to understand the importance and responsibility of supporting students who need additional attention and structure. I truly look forward to encouraging and being involved in the lives of these young people throughout their high school experience."
Stapleton possesses a M.A. in Special Education from South Alabama and an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education for the Handicapped from Auburn. She’s taught for 19 years as a special needs teacher, 9 in Baldwin County and 10 in Georgia. She currently resides in Fairhope and is a member of St. Lawrence Catholic parish.
