Justin Huval has been hired as the school’s third full time Mathematics instructor for the 2018-2019 school year. Mr. Huval currently teaches upper level Mathematics at Smith Station High School in the Phenix City area. He earned an undergraduate degree in Math and Secondary Education from Troy University and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Auburn University.
According to principal Faustin Weber, Huval will teach the two year Pre-Calc/A.P. Calc sequence at St. Michael, together with underclassmen courses: “We are impressed with the depth of his understanding of Mathematics and convinced he’ll do a good job preparing our top students for the A.P. exam. But we think he’ll connect with kids of all levels. He tutored undergraduates and athletes in college, he was active in archdiocesan youth ministry initiatives while in high school and college, and has a friendly personality that will make him approachable for our students needing extra help."
Huval, a native of Baldwin County, is looking forward to returning home:
"I am so excited to have the opportunity to join the St. Michael's family and look forward to getting to know the students and staff. My hope is that the students in my classes will grow and be challenged in their mathematics skills. I also hope to inspire my students to be the young men and women that God is calling them to be.”
Justin and his wife, Katie, were married last summer. They will be relocating to the area in June.
