Artist Statement:
Creating art helps me relieve stress. I enjoy making beautiful things from blank pages or globs of clay. When I am drawing, painting, throwing or glazing, I feel in control. I love that I can work until my art is exactly how I want it to be.
I am especially interested in wheel throwing and watercolors inspired by John Singer Sargent. Also, I love to paint building exteriors and am interested in learning more about architecture. After viewing my work, I hope people will notice the details and appreciate the beauty in buildings they see.
I am an artist and a student. I create art because it is relaxing, and I like the feeling of looking at my finished pieces. Hopefully my future will hold a job that I love and a family. In the past few years I've traveled and gotten to visit several amazing museums. I really enjoyed art in middle school and started in high school as soon as the class was offered. I love wheel throwing pottery and painting with watercolors. My favorite type of art is art with lines and geometric shapes.
Future Plans:
Laurie Grace will be attending LSU in the fall and pursuing a degree in nursing. She is hoping to take some art classes or join an art club in college.
