Students, you may access your individual results from the College Board here.
Principal Faustin Weber was happy about the results: “These scores are similar to last year—they’re very strong. Bravo to our students and our A.P. teachers, but also bravo to all the teachers who taught them in years leading up to the A.P. class. It’s a team effort, and I know our entire faculty is proud of their achievements.”
Weber continues: “Though a 77% pass rate is high in and of itself, it should be contextualixed within two St. Michael policies: First, because we encourage a culture of “stretch,” we have many students who take A.P. classes who would not likely take them in other schools. We’re proud of them for putting themselves out there, even if they ended up with 1’s or 2’s. They've taken good classes which will help them in college, and their willingness to challenge themselves—to avoid the path of least resistance— is something we talk about a lot here. Congratulations to them for stepping up. “
“Second, it’s our policy that whoever takes an A.P. class must sit for the exam. Some schools allow their A.P. students to opt out at the end, so many of their less successful students skip exams, skewing their pass rates higher.”
“Another thing worth noting,” Weber says, finishing up: “I was particularly impressed by the performance of the class of 2022, our newest alumni. Many of them ‘crushed it’ as the saying goes, including some who dramatically improved their scores from their junior year. They stayed the course, worked hard, and their scores as seniors show it! That was no where more evident than in Mrs. Gamard’s senior A.P. Psych class, where 50% made 5’s, 36% made 4’s, and 14% made 3’s. Wow! “
The College Board will publish the names of students it designates as “A.P. Scholars,’ or “A.P. Scholars with Honor” or “A.P. Scholars with Distinction” in mid July. St. Michael will post those names once it receives this information.
