Mr. Jon Hall will begin the St. Michael Cross Country program next Fall. Hall is the chair of the school's Science department, and has been a runner all of his life. He's coached distance running at several Catholic schools over the course of his career, including Pope John Paul II in Nashville and Marist in Atlanta.
Hall points out one of the unique benefits of the sport:
"One of the great things about cross country is that anyone who chooses to participate, gets to participate. No one “rides the bench.” Everyone who practices gets to race. And effort counts as much or even more than talent, so kids learn a great lesson about the importance of hard work. "
Coach Pete Leonard will assist Coach Hall. These two coaches have a wealth of knowledge in the sport. The cross country program is open to both male and female students. Potential runners can begin training with Coach Hall and Coach Leonard this summer.. They may contact Coach Hall at JHall@stmichaelchs.org.
