Faustin Weber, principal of St. Michael Catholic High School, is pleased to announce that current "Scholar in Residence" Dr. Keith Lindley will be St. Michael’s “College Counselor” beginning in 2017-2018. Dr. Lindley will also continue his teaching in the foreign language department.
“We think Dr. Lindley will be a good advocate for our students, “ Weber explains, “and given his years of experience as a university professor, will bring practical knowledge of what colleges are looking for in prospective students. He's a smart, talented guy. In his very short time at St. Michael, he’s built up a strong relationship with our students, so I think they’ll actively seek out his counsel.”
In explaining his vision for college counselor, Weber is direct: “It’s easy for students to get in a rut and go to colleges where everyone else is going, without much investigation. We want our students to dream big and to explore their futures with confidence and creativity. There are amazing choices out there, but our students have to be exposed to them first.”
Dr. Lindley is enthusiastic about his role in the future of St. Michael: “I am very much looking forward to this opportunity to help St. Michael students at all levels prepare for and make the transition to the best college or university for them. My years working and teaching at the university level provided insight that I will bring to the position to aid our students in making informed choices about schools and majors and to maximize their scholarship possibilities."
Among Dr. Lindley's first actions will be enroll in the local school consortium of college counselors, allowing St. Michael students the chance to attend a college fair of well over 100 universities and colleges in the fall.
