Congratulations to our Spanish students, who under the tutelage of Mrs. Lindley and Mrs. Baumer, garnered 53 medals and 57 honorable mentions based on their performance on the National Spanish exams this spring. Students were tested on all four levels of Spanish typical of a high school curriculum, from Spanish I to Spanish IV.
The medalists included 13 golds, 22 silvers, and 18 bronze winners.
"My congratulations to Mrs. Lindley, Mrs. Baumer and our students," says principal Faustin Weber. "If we combine the medalists with the honorable mentions, 110 St. Michael students were recognized on this national exam, almost one-third of our school. We are very proud of them! "
Mrs. Lindley, the founder of our foreign language program, who will be moving to Minnesota over the summer to be with her new grandchild, deflected praise, saying: "We have some really good raw material here at St. Michael, so we can't take much credit. But it's so fun to win! I hope we will continue to hire teachers with a competitive spirit!"
