St. Michael is pleased to announce it has hired Mr. Ian Hamilton to be a full time Physical Science teacher for the 2022-23 school year. He will primarily teach all the Freshman Physics classes and be head of the school's Chromebook program.
Hamilton hails from Texas. He earned an undergraduate degree in Biology and Spanish from Tulane, then went on to earn an M.S. in Geology from the University of Texas/Arlington. For the last ten years, he’s been a geologist for Lhoist North America. Prior to that, he was a teacher and soccer coach in the Fort Worth-Dallas public school system.
“We’re excited about the real-world perspective Mr. Hamilton will bring to the classroom” based on his years of experience as an acting geologist,” principal Faustin Weber says. “But we also think he understands the high school classroom, and I believe our kids will take to him quickly.”
Hamilton is excited to return to his original vocation, understanding it as an opportunity to lead students toward a closer relationship to God:
“I'm honored to step into some big shoes by taking on physical science classes at St. Michael's, and I look forward to continuing Mr. Hall's momentum. I hope students will get so intrigued by God's creation that they seek to know Him all the more.“
Hamilton currently lives in Birmingham with his wife, Sheena, and their 18 month old son, Crispin. They worship at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, and look forward to settling in Baldwin County to be nearer to his wife’s family.
