St. Michael is pleased to announce it has hired Katherine Beckmann as its new Aegis program director, replacing Jackie Stapleton, who is retiring in June.
Mrs. Beckmann earned a B.A in Marketing and an M.A in Teaching from Spring Hill College and was later certified as a dyslexia specialist. She has worked at St. Ignatius in Mobile, the Mobile County Public School system, and most recently at St. Patrick School, where she served as a Title I Teacher through the Baldwin County School system.
“Since she’s worked in our archdiocese, many of her employers are colleagues of mine,” says Faustin Weber, principal, “and they all speak very highly of her. We’re happy she’s accepted our offer to teach here. What stands out, right away, is her enthusiasm and kindness. I think our kids will take a liking to her right away, and she’ll prove to be a good coach and teacher for our students in Aegis.”
Beckmann met with Mrs. Stapleton last week to get a full run of the program and is grateful to walk into a thriving successful situation. “Mrs. Stapleton has set the bar high here,” she comments, “and I hope to continue the good work that she’s begun. Roda Ahmed, in the book, Mae Among the Stars , said ”If you dream it, believe in it, and work hard for it, anything is possible." I believe that, and will do my best to instill that belief in my students.”
Beckmann has been married to her husband, Rob, for 13 years. They have three children, Caroline (12), Tripp (10) and Molly (6) and worship at St. Patrick Church in Robertsdale.
