The “Rusty Cowles Scholarship Fund” began in 2017 in memory of Russell “Rusty” Cowles, who died on December 17, 2016 at the age of ten. He was a student at Christ the King Catholic School in Daphne, AL. Rusty played a variety of sports and enjoyed many outdoor activities. He is survived by his parents, Gary and Terri Cowles, by his brothers, George Robert and Edward, and by his sister, Marguerite. Rusty would have been a graduate of St. Michael, class of 2025.
Amount of the Award:
The Rusty Cowles Scholarship is awarded to two students and provides a half tuition scholarship to St. Michael Catholic High for one academic year. If a scholarship recipient leaves St. Michael for any reason that year, the unused portion of that award will revert back to the fund account.
Qualifications for the Scholarship:
Application Deadline:
Families must complete the financial aid application by March 31, the last day for priority aid. All students who meet the criteria above will then be automatically considered for the Cowles Scholarship. There is no need to "apply" for the scholarship.
Announcement of Award:
The recipients of the Cowles Scholarship will be announced at the academic awards ceremonies at Christ the King and St. Michael Catholic High School in May for the next academic year.
