JV Teams may also include middle schoolers from our partner elementary schools of Christ the King (Daphne), St. Patrick (Robertsdale) and St. Benedict (Elberta), dependent on ability and the discretion of the coach. All student-athletes must meet AHSAA eligibility requirements and have the approval of their principal.
Per the rules of St. Michael, students may not play for two athletic teams simultaneously, as in the case when two seasons overlap-- one nearing the end, the next one beginning. They must complete their commitment to the earlier team, and when that season ends, they may then join up with the second team.
Similarly, students may not quit their team during the season so as to join up with a different team. St. Michael expects student-athletes to honor their commitment to their coaches and team-mates once they make it, unless there are circumstances (such as injury) or unique situations (as judged by the school administration) that make that impossible. If they quit a team in the fall, for example, they are ineligible for winter sports.
AHSAA eligibility rules are complex, especially in the case of transfers. Read a quick review here, but our best advice is to consult our athletic director, Paul Knapstein (PKnapstein@stmichaelchs.org)
